Databases contained in the data bank:

Tacads

The database of final degree projects Tacads contains the vocabularies elaborated by the students who handed in a terminology compilation as part of their final degree project, and that have been reviewed by lecturers of the subject. The vocabularies, elaborated originally in Multiterm 95+, have been systematised and joined in a single database.

Each vocabulary of this database was originally conceived in accordance with concrete assumptions and necessities that resulted from the approach of each final degree project. For these reasons, even though they have been elaborated with a common protocol, the information of each vocabulary may not coincide with that of others, both in the number of fields that each register has and in the nature of the fields (compulsory and optional fields).

When consulting the database of final degree projects, it is important to take into account the following observations:

  • Languages. All the vocabularies are multilingual, but the languages can vary from work to work. The basis language of the vocabulary (Spanish or Catalan) always coincides with the language in which are expressed the name of the project and the subject fields.
  • Subject. Each term is assigned to a conceptual structure that is particular and specific of each vocabulary (its concept system). This thematic assignment is stated explicitly in the heading of each register. Therefore, if the results of a consult are filtered according to any of its subject fields, the registers that appear belong only to the subject field of that concrete vocabulary, not to the entire database.
  • Sources. All the sources where the information of the database (terms, contexts, definitions) has been documented appear explicitly. If a field (for instance, a definition) does not have any source assigned, the author of the vocabulary is its responsible.

TermFac

The database of Terminology course projects TermFac contains the vocabularies elaborated by the students who handed in a terminology compilation as result of their work in the subject of Terminology of the Facultat de Traducció I Interpretació, and that have been reviewed by lecturers of the subject.

When consulting the TermFac database, it is important to take into account the following observations:

  • Languages. All the vocabularies are monoilingual with equivalences, but the work language (Catalan or Spanish) and the equivalence languages (English, French or German) can vary from work to work. The basis language of the vocabulary (Spanish or Catalan) always coincides with the language in which are expressed the name of the project and the subject fields.
  • Subjects.
  • Extension. The vocabularies in the TermFac database have an approximate extension of 50 terms.

Realiter

The Realiter database includes vocabularies resulting from the IULA's collaboration on terminology projects carried out in the Realiter network context.

These vocabularies, elaborated originally in any of the Romance languages, are completed by students who are running a work experience or writing a degree project on terminology at the Facultat de Traducció i Interpretació. This work consists of introducing equivalents in Spanish and Catalan -and some other relevant information as well- to the original vocabularies.

  • Languages. Vocabularies edited in the Termium database are plurilingual, including all Romance languages; English may be included, too, as equivalece language.
  • Subjects. Each term is assigned to a sole subject field.
  • Sources. All the sources where the information of the database (terms, contexts, definitions) has been documented appear explicitly.
