Practical information

We strongly recommend that you make your arrangements for travel and lodging well in advance of the Congress, as Barcelona is a very popular tourist and business destination.

Travel

The Barcelona airport (abbreviation: BCN) is located in a nearby town, Prat de Llobregat, and is served by all major European carriers and many low-cost airlines. The centre of Barcelona can be easily reached via public transportation (bus or train; cost August 2007: less than 10 euros round trip). A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs approximately 25 euros (depending on traffic; rates higher at night).

Barcelona is also relatively close to two other airports that are served by low-cost airlines, especially during the summer months. The airport in Girona (abbreviation: GRO) is approximately 1 ½  hours north of Barcelona. There is regularly scheduled bus service between Barcelona and the Girona airport (cost August 2007: 21 euros round trip). The airport in Reus (abbreviation: REU) is approximately 1 ¼ hours south of Barcelona.

Lodging

Hotels

The Congress organizers have contacted the Transglobal Travel Agency in Barcelona to help you with your travel arrangements and lodging. Please contact Marta de Juan for information (in Catalan, Spanish or English, please) and identify yourself as being with the Euralex-Pompeu Fabra University group.  Please bear in mind that the Agency cannot guarantee hotel prices nor room availability until a firm reservation is made with them. We recommend you make your reservations as early as possible to ensure the most economical prices.

University housing

If you are interested in staying at a university residence, please go to the RESA webpage, where you will find information about reserving a room at a university residence in Barcelona.  There are several such residences in Barcelona, and please note that the ones nearest to the congress venue are Campus del Mar and La Ciutadella. University residences operated by RESA offer housing and breakfast (except at La Ciutadella; there are cafeterias nearby in the neighbourhood), daily cleaning of rooms, clean towels changed daily, sheets (changed every 3 days) and use of community areas in the residence. Prices listed include VAT, and reservations require a currently valid VISA card.

The Melon District residence has reserved a number of rooms for EURALEX congress participants until April 30th.  After that date, room availability cannot be guaranteed. From this residence the congress venue can be easily reached by metro. To make a reservation, you must provide a valid credit card number.

The residence Residència Universitària Augusta has reserved a number of rooms for Lexicom and EURALEX congress participants until April 15th. After that date, room availability cannot be guaranteed. From this residence the congress venue can be easily reached by metro.
