Online Terminology Workshops

The Online Terminology Workshops are six courses offered by the Institute for Applied Linguistics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, as a complement of Programm online in Terminology. Each workshop is a three-week and 5 credit (ECTS) course, except for Workshop 1, which is compulsory and is a 10 credit (ECTS) course.

Objectives

The Terminology Workshops aims to teach students on applied fields about methodology and technological abilities from terminological practice.

The first workshop is obligatory for students of the Master’s Programm in Terminology. The remaining workshops are part of the optional modules of the Master’s programm.

Course description

E-learnig training using the Internet
Qualified faculty
Digital classroom with access restricted to the students and the instructors of the course, with exclusive didactic material designed for webpages, forum, chat, self-evaluation and workgroup exercises, and administrative and academic services
Tutoring with direct and permanent connection with the teacher assigned to each unit, the coordination of the course, the pedagogical tutor and the webmaster to solve academic doubts or other questions
Innovative methodology based on a discussion forum. Didactic material available in three formats: Online, files for a local installation and a CD-ROM with the Course development and the didactic material used.

Working Languages

Workshop 1 has a Spanish and an English editon. The working language for the rest of workshops will be Spanish.

Course logistics

It is not necessary to have special computer programs, neither high speed connections, nor computers with the latest configurations.

Number of students enrolled: 35
Admission Requirements: in order to be admitted in the course, it is necessary to have a first cycle university degree or its equivalent.

Degree type

The University Institute for Applied Linguistics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra will certify each workshop on 30 hours to the students who follow, pass, and make profitable advances with the exercises.

Continuing studies

These Terminology Workshops are part of the modular Online Master on Terminology.
