METANET4U: Enhancing the European Linguistic Infrastructure, funded by UNER - Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Program, (CIP-PSP-270893), of the EU 7th Framework Programme. Leading researcher: Dr. Núria Bel. Duration of the project: 2011-2013. The central objective of the METANET4U project is to contribute to the establishment of a pan-European digital platform that makes available language resources and services, encompassing both datasets and software tools, for speech and language processing, and supports a new generation of exchange facilities for them. The project will be developed by the following partners in a consortium: Universitat Pompeu Fabra, University of Lisbon, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, University of Manchester, University Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Insitutul de Cercetarri Pentru Inteligenta Artificiala and the University of Malta. |

Corpus Project. The main goal of the Corpus project is the construction and exploitation of a textual, plurilingual and specialized corpus. The languages involved are the following: Catalan, Spanish, English, German and French. The areas of interest include: economics, law, computer science, medicine, enviromental science and linguistic sciences. This corpus is the main support for teaching and research at our institut. Some of the research activities envisaged against this corpus include the following ones: terminology detection, parallel texts alignment, partial parsing, (semi)automatic extraction of several levels of linguistic information for building computational systems (for example, subcategorization patterns), language variation studies. |
