Official Postgraduate M.A.

Within the Official Postgraduate Program in Linguistic Communication and Multilingual Mediation, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) gathers the educational programs offered until now through the PhD Program in Language Sciences and Applied Linguistics and the M.A. in Applied Linguistics of the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA). Within this new program, to those interested in Applied Linguistics, the following official M.A. diploma is offered:

• Master in Linguistics and Technological Applications

This Master, with academical orientation (personalized according to each student: aiming at research or professionalizing), can be done in 1 or 2 years, depending on the studies level at admission time, and it is organized in 7 specialized areas:

• Discourse Analysis
• Language Acquisition
• Language Learning
• Lexicology and Lexicography
• Terminology and Knowledge Management
• Descriptive and Formal Linguistics and Variation
• Computational Linguistics and Language Engineering
  

Researchers at the IULA participate as professors and tutors in this official program. The students chosing the research path will be able to do the PhD at the IULA in the following subjects:

• Lexicology and Lexicography
• Terminology and Knowledge Management
• Descriptive and Formal Linguistics and Variation
• Computational Linguistics and Language Engineering

The IULA also takes part in the Interuniversity Master (UB-UPF) in Digital Content Managent. The subjects of the module given by the professors from the IULA-UPF are also offered as optative subjects for the Master in Linguistics and Technological Applications.
