The Institute for Applied Linguistics at Pompeu Fabra University is a research and superior training center gathering, since 1994, different official own programs, related to Applied Linguistics and to the different specific research subjects of its researchers: Lexic, Computational Linguistics, Linguistic Variation, Terminology, Lexicography, Forensic Linguistics, Language Engineering, Neology, Knowledge Management, Digital Documentation.

Its training programs offer an important internationalization level, due to students' countries of origin (more than 50% of students at IULA are foreigners) and to the invited external professors, of acknowledged prestige.

Doctors from IULA also participate as invited professors at external or interuniversity PhD and M.A. programs.
