The Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA) - a research and teaching centre at Universitat Pompeu Fabra of internationally recognised prestige in the heart of the city of Barcelona - specialises in linguistic engineering and computational linguistics, lexicon and terminology, lexicography, general and specialised discourse, language variation and change, forensic linguistics, scientific information and knowledge management.

It offers a Master's programme in Applied Linguistics, a Diploma in Advanced Studies in Applied Linguistics, and for the 2004-2006 two-year academic period a Ph. D. programme in Linguistic Sciences and Applied Linguistics which has already reached its eighth edition.
