[03/02/15] The IAFL granted the first M. Teresa Turell Travel Award to a ForensicLab researcher

The International Association of Forensic Linguistics (IAFL) awards committee, chaired by professor Tim Grant, has granted the first M. Teresa Turell Travel Award to Sheila Queralt, researcher at the Forensic Linguistics Laboratory (ForensicLab) and PhD student of Translation and Language Sciences (DTCL) at the Pompeu Fabra University.

The M. Teresa Turell Travel Award was created to support postgraduate students who are undertaking their research in the fields of forensic linguistics, language or law. With this award, the IAFL wants to honour the memory of Dr Turell and her significant work in the field of forensic linguistics.

Sheila Queralt has received a grant to present the paper “The Implementation of Likelihood Ratios for the Evaluation of Linguistic Evidence in Forensic Text Comparison” at the IAFL 12th Biennial Conference, which will be held from 6 to 9 July in Guangzhou, China, and which has been organised together with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
