[19/11/14] Presentation of the Pompeu Fabra Chair, led by professor M. Teresa Cabré

Càtedra Pompeu FabraThe Pompeu Fabra Chair, led by professor M. Teresa Cabré, founder of the University Institute of Applied Linguistics Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA) and current president of the Philological Section of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC), was presented on Tuesday, 18 November, at the Balmes building of Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).

The event was chaired by Jaume Casals, chancellor of Pompeu Fabra University, and saw the participation of Joandomènech Ros, president of the IEC, and Ester Franquesa, director general of Linguistic Policy at the Department of Culture of the Catalan Generalitat. These institutions sponsor the Chair together with the UPF. During the event, Josep Ramoneda, journalist and philosopher, gave the inaugural lecture entitled "Filosofia de les identitats" (Philosophy of identities).

Through the Pompeu Fabra Chair, the UPF wants to demonstrate its commitment towards the Catalan nation and give prominence to the activities carried out at our university concerning the promotion of the Catalan language and culture, both in terms of teaching and research.
